Course Level Assessment

Course level assessment of student learning is the responsibility of the instructor teaching the course. All instructors use assessment to determine the extent to which students have learned the course material. In some courses these assessments may be used to provide evidence of student learning at the program level.

Evidence of students' learning and methods for gathering evidence of achievement will vary with the type of course. Courses that are project-based, information rich, or skills-based are all associated with unique types of learning objectives and will produce different kinds of student learning evidence.

Regardless of course content, instructional methods, and delivery mechanism, the following elements are expected for each course:

Instructors may also choose to use student feedback on course effectiveness in meeting stated learning objectives to identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
